Ingredients
- 2 ozbourbon60 ml
- 1 tbsphoney
- ½ ozfresh lemon juice15 ml

Instructions
Dissolve honey in a small amount of hot water in a mug. Add bourbon and lemon juice. Top with more hot water and stir. Garnish with a lemon wheel, cinnamon stick, and star anise.

Technique
Dissolve the honey in hot water first — it won't dissolve properly in alcohol alone. The water should be hot but not boiling; boiling water cooks off the alcohol too fast.
Balance
Any whiskey works — bourbon for sweetness, Scotch for smokiness, Irish for smoothness. The honey and lemon should be in balance; this is medicine that tastes good.
