Ingredients

  • 2 ozbourbon
  • 1 ozfresh lemon juice
  • ½ ozsimple syrup
  • 3 ozclub soda

Instructions

Combine bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a Collins glass filled with fresh ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with a lemon wheel and cherry.

Sips & Tips

Technique

Same technique as a Tom Collins but with bourbon's warmth instead of gin's botanicals. Shake the base, then top with soda — never shake carbonation.

Balance

Bourbon's vanilla sweetness means you can use less simple syrup than in a Tom Collins. The lemon and soda keep it refreshing despite the whiskey's richness.

Rye Collins

Use rye whiskey for a spicier, drier version that's closer to the original 19th-century recipe.
